Most of the kitchens built by Silverdale Pine are a mixture of fitted and unfitted elements, which people prefer these days. They have built some beautiful freestanding dressers and kitchen tables out of old pine, although they prefer to buy in chairs which are too labour intensive to make to be profitable. ‘We can build absolutely anything anyone wants’, says Mike, ‘and because the wood is reclaimed, it’s at a very reasonable price.’ John brings his artistic skills to the design side of his business creating hand-drawn plans for clients’ approval. The furniture can be stained, painted colour-washed, with sample boards prepared first. Stains can be used to even out differences in shade between different items or to match new ones to customers existing furniture.

The kitchen-building service offered by Silverdale Pine is a total one, with plumbing, tiling and electrical work contracted out but continuous supervision of each project, including the fitting of white goods.

At the end of it all, customers have a unique kitchen made from a natural product at a very reasonable price, plus the satisfaction of knowing that they have ‘done their bit’ to conserve some of the world’s resources.
